You can register with us online, by e-mail (info@isd-freiburg.de), by phone (0049 (0)761 610 50 60), or in person. If you have questions, you can of course also contact us directly.

Which course program suits me?

Contact us by e-mail (info@isd-freiburg.de) or by phone (0049 (0)761 610 50 60). Alternatively, if you are in Freiburg, you are of course welcome to ask us for advice in person. If you contact us by e-mail, please answer the following questions (if possible):

  1. Do you have any previous knowledge of the German language? If so, at what level are you? As an alternative to a language level, you are also welcome to describe us your level of knowledge.
  2. What is your learning goal? What level would you like to reach or how many weeks would you like to attend a German course?
  3. When (in which month) would you like to start your course(s) in Freiburg?
  4. Will you be applying for a visa to attend a language course?

We will of course be happy to clarify any questions regarding the above points.

Afterwards you will receive the invoice and the enrollment contract by e-mail.

Before enrolling, you can take a free placement test online or a written placement test at our office. For beginners with no previous knowledge, a placement test is not necessary.

I am a doctor and would like to receive my professional recognition in Germany. Can I acquire the necessary German language skills at ISD – both general language and medical?

We, the ISD Freiburg, are the first choice for a large number of doctors who wish to work in Germany as well as specialize in a particular field. Our course offerings include both general language German intensive courses from A1-C1 as well as 4-week compact courses for specialist language exam (FSP) preparation or extensive, 16-week FSP preparation courses for general practitioners, which are sponsored by the Bundesamt für Migration und Flüchtlinge (BAMF) and are therefore usually for free.

Depending on your previous knowledge of the German language, we will be happy to send you the German intensive course program that is suitable for you and compatible with your desired visa, including German medicine. Please contact us by e-mail for this purpose.

I do not have time in the morning. What options are there for me?

Usually in these cases an individual course in the afternoon is the best alternative. Please contact us by phone or e-mail so that we can find an individual solution together.

Visa

I would like to come to Germany with a visa to learn German. Will I receive a confirmation of enrollment from ISD which I can present to the embassy?

Yes, after the payment of the total course fees or, in case of payment by installments, after paying at least 50% of the total amount, you will receive the Acceptance Letter (the confirmation of enrollment with all information about the course duration, the weekly number of class hours etc.) for your booked course program for your visa application by e-mail. You then present this letter together with all your documents to the German Embassy in your country.

Is it possible to postpone the start of my course in case of delays in the issuance of my visa?

Yes, this is normally possible. You will then start at a later date with another course of the same level. Please let us know immediately if there is an unexpected delay in your visa so that we can work out a new suitable start date together.

The first change of the start date is free of charge. From the second change on, an administrative fee of 75,- EUR is to be paid for each change of the course start.
